The Icing on the Cake: A Template to Innovate Custom IoT Applications with RAKwireless and Datacake

Integrative IoT technologies are what RAK is all about, and Datacake, a low-code IoT platform, entirely agrees! Datacake has added a new publicly available template for the whole RAK WisNode family, making the line, which includes WisNode Track Lite, WisNode Sense Home, WisNode Button, and its 4K variant, plug-and-play integration with the platform!

Simon Kemper, one of Datacake’s founding members, had this to say about RAK products, their customization, and Datacake integration: “What we love about RAKwireless' products is that they are easy to install. Thanks to the management interface of the gateways, we can concentrate on the essentials in our projects. Our first personal encounter with RAK hardware dates back to when we at Datacake needed dedicated LoRaWAN gateways with cellular radio for our project business with customers. We ordered and evaluated a few of the available gateways, and we were totally convinced by the RAK7258 –– also because we could easily apply our Datacake sticker there. Since that day, the RAK7258 and also the current successor, the WisGate Edge Lite 2, are part of our strategic partnership.

Datacake is cloud-based, and the entire product can be operated as a SaaS (Software as a Service) service via a web interface. Datacake offers various integrations, of which LoRaWAN integration is the most prominent among them. Presets for multiple devices are available, and external LoRaWAN network servers can be connected via webhook integrations. Datacake thus supports not only various products from RAKwireless but also the most relevants LoRaWAN Networks in the market, Helium, and The Things Network.

"The result of Datacake's services is the perfect mix of entrepreneurs and IoT innovators, making them a perfect match for the RAKwireless Partner's Network. Our partnership with Datacake opens new doors to IoT developers in creating custom IoT applications from the hardware to the application layer in minimal time,” shares Maria Hernandez, Developer Relations Lead at RAK. “Having more RAK products, like the WisNode line, integrated into Datacake’s platform means that more users can reimagine and innovate in the different industries next to all the power behind software and hardware experts. We keep joining forces to create solutions that deliver innovation and excellence easily and affordably,” says RAKwireless CEO Ken Yu.

Datacake plans to continue to integrate more RAK products and build more templates for products like WisBlock. RAK is thrilled to be part of a new and disruptive platform that gives more power and accessibility to the user in creating the IoT project of their dreams ––– the icing on top of an innovative and beautiful (data)cake!
